General Films on the American Revolution for Kids
Movie night, with a side of history. These films are family favorites that bring the Revolution — and the people who lived it — to life.
Movies
- Johnny Tremain (1957) — a Walt Disney classic adapted from the historical novel. A young silversmith’s apprentice in Boston gets swept up in the Sons of Liberty.
- Felicity: An American Girl Adventure (2005) — a child’s-eye view of colonial Williamsburg. Very relatable for elementary-aged kids: friendship, loyalty, and daily life on the brink of revolution, without battlefield violence.
- National Treasure (2004) — set in the modern day, but built entirely around the secrets, symbols, and documents of the Founders. A family movie-night hit and a great way to get kids excited about the era.
